How to Choose Your Fashion Eyewear?

I have talked about sunglasses and contact lenses in my previous post. But I think it is fair to go one step further to discuss on eyewear, particularly how to choose your perfect eyeglasses.

With so many styles of eyewear and eyeglasses to choose from how are you possibly to know which ones will look best over your eyes? With today’s fashion savvy designers, glasses come in every style possibly imaginable. From rimless, to cat eye, round, to square, and from brands like Gucci, to Prada, to Calvin Klein, how are you to choose the perfect match?

There are many things to consider overall, the first being: do you want an eyeglass frame that will be subtle and practically unnoticeable and blend with your complexion? Or would you prefer something a little bolder to accentuate your features?

Rimless or frameless eyeglasses have become a very popular choice. They are lightweight, simple, and fashionable. When selecting your pair you may have options regarding metal frame color, hinge style, and lens shape.

Framed eyewear has two main families; plastic or zyl, and metal frames. When choosing your frame, know what general color or shade you will want. For example, glasses come in matte finishes, shades such as tortoise, and practically everything in between.

On to the most important part of selecting your eyewear: matching the correct shape eyeglass frame to your face. There are many rules you can follow, let’s look at the most simple to understand and apply.

Take a look in the mirror and focus on the area above your eyes. What shape do your brow bones and eyebrows create? This area may look very oval, round, flat, curved inward, curved outward, etc.. The point is that this feature is unique to you.

The next time you are looking at eyeglasses, try to match the top of the eyeglasses (the upper edge of the lenses and frames) with the shape of your brow. You will be pleasantly surprised to see that most any frame you select using this method will fit you quite nicely. Using this method you will take the mystery out of, and make selecting your next pair of eyeglass or reading glasses frames much more fun.

Edison Chen's Sex Scandals

Celeb sex scandals are nothing new in the West, but a series of obscene photographs seemingly featuring local stars has sent shockwaves through the Hong Kong entertainment business.

Pictures that appear to capture singer-actor Edison Chen and pop singer Gillian Chung engaged in sexual intercourse hit a popular online news discussion forum Jan. 27. They were followed a day later by pics that purport to be Chen and TV actress Bobo Chan and other pics showing film star Cecilia Cheung at Chen's apartment.

While the stars' reps insist the pics are doctored, authorities and experts were working to check their authenticity.

While police say they are investigating two reported cases of publishing indecent materials on the Internet, the Hong Kong Performing Artists Guild called for government action to curb indecent and obscene material in the media.

The guild deemed the incident not only "tragic for the entertainment industry, but for all Hong Kong people. Such immoral behavior is poison to the minds of youth today."

The pics have also raised questions about what some commentators deemed excessive behavior by the region's stars. Postings of the Chen photos were accompanied by a list of his other alleged conquests, and Hong Kong has in recent years witnessed two separate "wardrobe malfunctions" by actress Yumiko Cheng.

The pics even raced across the Internet into China, despite a recent SARFT crackdown on online obscenity. A file purportedly containing all the photos was reportedly being downloaded 10,000 times a minute.

Man Fashion Accessory: Cufflinks

While 'cuff links' is defined by the American Heritage English Dictionary as a pair of linked buttons or a similar device used to fasten the cuffs of a shirt, in modern usage 'cufflinks' is a combined variant spelling of the same fashion accessory. Cuff links / cufflinks are worn by men and women alike. More feminine, lighter-weight cuff links are also available for women's wear. Gemstone cufflinks are a perfect gift of perennial fashion for a wedding, prom, formal dinner, graduation, anniversary, after-five cocktails, evening dress, and daily office wear.

For your first time wearing fashion cufflinks, take your cue from the tone of the event and what others will be wearing. One way is to ask those putting on the event about appropriate attire. It may be helpful to wear your fashion cufflinks with the rest of your outfit at least once before the occasion to get used to wearing them, so you feel comfortable on the day. Because gemstone cuff links are real, and especially if the gemstones show unique characteristics, they can say a lot about you. And they can be a delight to wear.

To link a cuff with the most widely found design, close the swivel bar and insert the stem through the holes from the outside of the cuff with the gemstone or other main feature facing outward so it shows. Then simply open the swivel bar to secure the cuff.

Cuff links may be worn with your choice of several cuff styles, and matched with a necktie, button cover, ascot, or bolo tie / bola tie. Cuffs for custom dress shirts can include French cuffs (doubly layered and with two 'buttonholes' for each layer) in several styles such as angle-cut French cuffs or rounded-corner French cuffs. Additionally, there are many convertible cuff styles, with a second 'buttonhole' next to a button, so that you can wear cufflinks or simply button the cuff. Such cuffs can be straight, angled, or rounded, with one or two buttons plus 'buttonholes.' Similarly, the cuffs of an existing shirt can be made convertible. While there are many choices, keep in mind that all it takes is having two 'buttonholes.' The rest is simply your style preference. You may also wear cufflinks and studs with a shirt front with double button holes for the studs. Or a convertible style to button or wear with studs.

Choose cufflinks in keeping with the mood of the occasion. Hematite Cuff Links and other impressive, darker gemstones may be worn to the most formal event. Paua Shell Cuff Links and more personally expressive gemstones may suit a more festive occasion or daily wear for the office. Let the mood of the occasion guide your choice of gemstones.

Keep in mind that appropriate attire is usually not as rigid as a uniform, and there are many opportunities for personal expression. Plus, looking good with always fashionable gem cuff links means you are more likely to enjoy the occasion.

Man Fashion: Sportswear

Sports apparel for men today is not the same as they used to be. Fashion sports apparel today make use of fabrics that employ technology to offer man more comfort and fit even when used for long periods. Fabrics being used for most fashion sportswear today are of lightweight and quick drying micro-fiber material which can expand and also allows moisture to flow out of the fabric in order to keep the man dry inside as well as to make moisture evaporate faster. The fabric used is also durable as well as versatile, offering to protect the wearer as well as provide utmost comfort in any type of condition.

Man sports apparel today is not only designed for function, most garments today also employ designs that make them more fashionable. For whatever type of sport an individual plays, it has become an important issue to look good with whatever sports apparel one wears. Man sports apparel designers are already putting this on top of their priorities when designing such garments.

That is why today, there are a number of body hugging me sports apparel available that not only functions well in terms of comfort and fit but also provide the wearer to show off a well-formed body structure. Fitness buffs always are proud of their bodies and body hugging performance sports wear can help them look good further.

It is still important for fitness and sports buffs to wear proper sports and fitness wear. Different types of sports require different types of outer wear. If you are into running, the proper running gear would require running apparel such as a running shirt and shorts that allow excellent breath ability to prevent feeling wet and uncomfortable while running long distances. New running wear designs make use of such fabrics that help keep out sweat and moisture to keep the wearer always feeling dry and cool inside. Same goes with running shorts and pants.

Although it was appropriate then to wear cotton when running, it can sometimes hamper performance. Cotton can easily absorb perspiration that can become heavy and feel very wet and can make running a bit uncomfortable. It would be better for you to choose a sports apparel that allows your perspiration to evaporate a lot faster such as what newer running wear are capable of doing.

The proper running shoes can also help in improving your performance as well as keep your body well cushioned while running. The right type of shoes would usually depend on the kind of feet that you have. Each type would require different shoes and the level of stability and cushioning that your feet would ultimately need.

Men Fashion: From Runway to Your Closet

By Jennifer Wasilewski

Ever year fashion designers and other fashion minded folk flock to cities like Paris and Milan to share in runway madness. Beautiful bodies strut up and down the catwalk showing off what fashion designers have worked so hard to put together. At home, while we sit in our casual wear we look to the trend setting fashion shows and ask "Who actually wears that?" The men and women that walk down the runway seem to be part of some awe inspiring vivid dream where people dawn the most ridiculous costumes. While you may not everything at the fashion shows on the street there are a few things that will make it out to your favorite clothing store. Here are a few of the outrageous men fashions that you can take to daily life.

1. Hammer Pants
If you think Hammer pants were a nightmare left to the early nineties think again. Apparently these ultra baggy pants were just something to legit for fashion designers to quit. Fashion designers are bringing these.

How You Can Wear It Though you may think hammer pants should be left to the late 80's, they are back in men's fashion and you can definitely pull them off. Stay away from the glitzy shiny pairs and go for ones that are a made from dark, no shine pair in black, brown, or gray, or dark blue and green. These colors make the hammer pants more acceptable and will look fashionable instead of outlandish.

2. Sheer

Want to be revealing without putting it out there? Sheer clothing isn't just for the ladies anymore. The runways were full of super thin tops to cover or barely cover the men that modeled them.

How You Can Wear It Your biggest concern is probably looking less than manly in sheer attire, but with the proper clothing you can pull this off easily. Look for sheer sweaters in solid colors and wear them over button down shirts or T-shirts. This allows you to still take part in this sexy trend without looking ridiculous. If you're really daring try wearing a sheer top to the beach or poolside as a cover up until you hit the water.

3. The Zipper In a strange attempt to bring back what I'm assuming is rock n roll attire fashion designers have gone zipper happy. Whether its shirts, coats, pants or shorts there are zippers everywhere. It seems function is not at the heart of this fashion statement since there are zippers in places you can barely reach let alone use.

How You Can Wear It Wearing zipper clad clothing can be a tricky feat. The key is to have enough zippers to rock the trend without having so many you stand out like a sore thumb caught in a zipper. While the zipper trend is seen in shirts, shorts, pants, and jackets, you may want to start with the jacket to test the waters.

4. Pajamas Who wouldn't love to go to work donning pajama bottom and slippers? Thanks to the wacky minds of America's top men's fashion designers your dreams are now realized. Silk, flannel, and cotton pants have somehow worked their way out of the bedroom and on to the runway.

How You Can Wear It The pajama look is a lot easier to pull off this spring than you would think. Stick with the semi casual pajama trends like cotton striped pants paired with a button down polo and you'll be comfortable and fashionable. Stay away from silk printed pairs or the I just rolled out of bed wrinkled look.

5. Cropped Pants If only you had the fashion foresight to hold on to those high-waters when you mom told you you were to old to wear them. Cropped pants are all the rage for men this spring with hemlines making a movement upwards.

How You Can Wear It The capri pants is probably the hardest trend for men to get past. It seems like that little bit of ankle and lower calf should be left to the ladies out. Look for Cropped Pants that rise a few inches above the ankle and stick to khaki like materials in neutral colors like tan, green, and brown. These are great for beach wear so pair them with a t-shirt and sandals.

Man Fashion: How to Close Your Closet

Do you having difficult to find your favorite shirt in your closet? If this is the case, I think it's time for you to clean out your closet. To really clean out your closet and get rid of the clothes you don't wear so you can see what you have and get dressed faster, try weeding your closet using the four box method.

Pick a day when you'll have a block of uninterrupted time. Get six big boxes (U-Haul medium boxes are great for this). Label them "Keep" "Donate" "Dump" "Fix" "Maybe" and, if you're the sentimental type, a box labeled "Archive".

A caveat--make sure you edit warm weather clothes in warm weather, and cold weather clothes when it's chilly out. You may feel differently about an item when it's in season, and less connected to it when it's not.

Keep
Start with jackets, suits, and separates. Keep your essentials, the clothes that make you feel good, the clothes that have worked for you over and over--as long as they're in good condition, still fit, and don't look dated.

Donate
If you're the same size and haven't worn something in a year or more (some recommend two years), plan to give it away--unless it's evening wear. An evening outfit or separates that look and feel great can be worn for years.

Dump

Throw out clothes that aren't fit to donate (c'mon, you know they're in there!) Keep a few things for dirty jobs like gardening, painting, and store them with your tools. Unless you keep your tools in the garage, because then you'll never wear them because you'll be afraid they're full of spiders or something.

Fix
Put anything that needs a hem, button, alteration, or cleaning into this box. Once everything else is organized, come back to this box and get to work. For things you can't fix yourself, go to the dry cleaner or tailor (every woman needs a good tailor--if you don't have one, ask your friends and acquaintances for recommendations). Make sure this box is empty by the end of the day, even if you've just put the things in your car to take to the designated repair person.

One more caveat--make sure you really want to keep the things you're fixing--or you're just wasting money.

Maybe

This box is for the shirt you got on sale but never wore because you don't have anything to go with it, or just never bothered to figure out what to wear with it, the pants that are a little too tight, etc. At the end of the day, seal this box and put it somewhere else, away from your closet. Anything you don't miss after four months should be given away.

Archive

If you're not wearing an item but want to save it, it shouldn't be in your closet. After all, this is a closet--not a diary. This box is your time capsule. Gather anything you want to save for sentimental reasons and put it in this box. Make sure these clothes are clean, and pack them away in archival quality boxes with layers of tissue paper and cedar blocks or chips. Store the box in a cool, dry place to protect your clothes.

Once you've completed these steps, look over your keepers again and see how they coordinate with one another. If one piece doesn't fit with anything else, donate it. (Shopping to find things to go with it will recreate the problem you just finished solving--your wardrobe should be a coherent, cohesive unit. It's great to have pieces that express different aspects of your personality, but they still should all fit!).

Now make a list of things you need, like a new shell for a favorite suit, or a new white shirt to replace the four with yellowing you just got rid of. Put the keepers back in your closet and revel in all your new space--and in being able to see your clothes. And enjoy getting dressed the next day; it'll be so much easier and faster...and now you get to go shopping.

Celebrity Fashion: Taiwan's Jay Chou

So far we only highlighted fashion from the west, there is nothing much from the Eastern world. So here I would like to share with you the Pop singer from Taiwan, Jay Chou's fashion. Jay Chou (traditional Chinese: 周杰倫; simplified Chinese: 周杰伦) (born 18 January 1979) is a World Music Award-winning Taiwanese musician, singer, producer, actor and director. In 1998, he was discovered in a talent contest where he showcased his piano and song-writing skills. Over the next two years, he was hired to compose for popular Chinese singers. Trained in classical music, he combines Chinese and Western music styles to produce songs that fuse R&B, rock, and pop genres, covering issues such as domestic violence, war, and urbanization.

Chou's compositions are loosely categorized as pop music. While many of his works fall into contemporary R&B, rap, and rock genres, the term "Chou Style" (traditional Chinese: 周氏風格; simplified Chinese: 周氏风格) has been popularized to describe his trademark cross-cultural music and his insistence on singing with relaxed enunciation. Taipei Times once described the meaning of "Chou Style": "In what has become the archetypal Chou style, Taiwan's favorite son blends pop, rap, blues and a smorgasbord of esthetic elements of world music to create his dream-like never-never land".

Men Skincare: Fundamental Guides

If you are the man that serious about skincare, then you are not alone. It wasn't so long ago that it was absurd to think of men focusing any attention at all on their skin care. Of course, they made sure to keep their faces washed and once in a while they would shave without complaining, but it was unusual to find a man who was worried about aging and wrinkles. Recently, though, more and more men are starting to admit that they too care about what their skin looks like. In fact, they care about it just as much as women do. They just don't seem to have as many products to choose from.

One of the major reasons that men are starting to take better care of their skin is that men are becoming more worried about their health. Healthier skin usually leads to a healthier lifestyle. Men and Women alike want to live longer and lead healthier lives. Having healthy skin is the first step in this direction.

Recent studies have shown that a man's skin is typically more sensitive than a woman's skin. This is not so surprising considering what women will put their skin through to keep it looking good. Women also lack that "protective" layer of facial hair, so their skin has to be a little bit tougher to stand up to environmental elements. Men's facial hair protects them from sun and can help keep the skin from drying out.

One of the reasons that a man's skin is typically more sensitive than a woman's skin is that, stereotypically speaking, they tend to spend more time outdoors. They also shave their faces. Shaving can cause the facial skin to become irritated, and if you read the ingredients on men's shave gel you will see that it contains moisturizers that have been added specifically to help ease the skin irritation that comes with shaving. This is also why razors now have four and five blades. The more blades a razor has, the easier it is on the skin.

Some think that this heightened sensitivity of men's skin is what causes them to have more wrinkles and to show the signs of aging sooner than women do. One has to wonder how long it will be before there are men's lines of anti-aging wrinkle creams on the market.

Men's Accessory: Omega Watch

Watchmakers Advice
By Claude H. Suddreth "Opinion Expert" (Phoenix, AZ USA)

I am rather opinionated when it comes to mens luxury watches. This comes from spending 2 years in watchmaking school, studying directly under the guidance of a certified master swiss watchmaker who came here from Europe. Men watches, especially mid to high grade swiss watches, are a passion of mine. I am not loyal to a brand or a style or anything else. I judge them for what they are, in terms of quality, function, construction, and style. A watchmakers point of view.

This said I will tell you that this particular men watch is what I consider to be a "best kept secret" sort of watch. This is an AUTOMATIC watch (read: Mechanical - NOT Quartz), and of CHRONOMETER grade function. Chronometer as used here is a measure of accurate timekeeping, not quality - a point often misunderstood - and is used mostly from a marketing point of view by companies such as Rolex. HOWEVER. This movement in THIS watch is actually EXCELLENT in terms of quality, time keeping ability, and construction - easily comparable to other Swiss made movements from other famous manufacturers costing several times as much. This watch, properly serviced, will provide a lifetime of use - and probably more. Absolutely the sort of men's watches you pass down to the next generation. (maybe still long way to go! :P)

All in all - and EXCELLENT choice - especially for those seeking their first QUALITY Swiss watch purchase.

Edwards Leaves The Race: My Winter of Discontent

“Waiting for the winds of change to sweep the clouds away.
Waiting for the rainbow’s end to cast its gold your way.” — Something For Nothing, Rush

This has really been a tough couple of week and a half. Maybe it’s just the season for sour moods. My beloved and unfortunately hobbled and injured Chargers went on the road to New England, and against the odds played a competitive and inspired game against an unbeaten juggernaut. They lost, though. About that same time we lost the last of the bright red, orange and gold foliage leaving nothing but bare ugly trees. We also began a series of mostly gray, cold and rainy days.

It’s debatable whether winter may or may not cause depression, but it certainly magnifies it.

There’s not been a lot of encouraging signs this year. Yet I was hoping for spring and a chance to finally have a primary vote in Texas that – for once – we might be able to have some influence as to whom might be our next President.

If there was ever a time for distinct change and an overhaul of the disparities that have become the reality of America, it was now. Poverty, bankruptcy, dispossession, under- and unemployment, economic stagnation and decaying dreams are blithely accepted with no true urgency. Any seeming attention these problems get is cosmetic and ephemeral. Any action proposed or taken is only a buttress for the façade of concern.

And yes, like a disproportionate percentage of the transgender community, hit home hard with me as well.

For the record, I’ve been a John Edwards backer throughout. He’s not only been the primary and distinctive voice pushing for comprehensive revamping of this “winner take all, losers die” attitude in 21st century America, he was doing so in the last presidential campaign of 2004. His voice has been the strongest and most unequivocal on poverty – a bright ray of hope for those of us at the bottom rungs of society – someone actually took notice and even concern!

Today I read the headlines that John Edwards ended his campaign for the presidency.

There are other candidates in the Democratic race, and certainly there’s a good chance that we can finally end the reign of unbridled conservatism gone amok. A vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton is tantamount to a vote for Joe Solmonese of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) – if you’re gay or lesbian it’s great, if you’re transgendered it’s devastating. Sen. Barack Obama is a better choice, except Sen. Ted Kennedy (head of the senate’s anti-trans coalition) is now sidling up to Obama hoping to influence who he perceives as the next Prez.

Both candidates have been for the troubling notion of “working with corporate America” to negotiate change for the rest of us in need. If we know nothing else, we know corporations exist for their gains – not losses. They’ll take every compromise you’re willing to give them.

For those of us in the lower socioeconomic strata – those of us perpetually disempowered, we’re now back in the darkness and likely to be forgotten again. Status quo.

“Well, I might as well go to bed … at least I can dream ….” — Charlie-in-the-Box from the Island of Misfit Toys in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer © by Rankin-Bass

“I don’t want to sleep. I have nothing left to dream.” — Suzy the Doll from the Island of Misfit Toys in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer © by Rankin-Bass

Jack Cafferty from CNN mused about this ‘change that isn’t’ in his 1/30/08 blog:
“Ask anyone what they think of our government and most people will be happy to tell you. They are angry. I get thousands of letters a week from people angry about health care, immigration, the war, the economy, you name it. The consensus is our government is broken and our country is in trouble.

“The problems they complain about exist solely because of the actions of the Democrats and Republicans in Washington. The political establishment, if you will, that is in bed with the lobbyists and the corporations and, quite frankly, couldn’t care less about you.

Except now, at election time, when they need you. They travel the country spewing the same tired rhetoric we have heard for years. And like lemmings, we appear to be on the brink of continuing to send one of them to the White House.” Cafferty then asks the question “When it comes right down to it, why won’t we vote to really change things?”

Good question, though not entirely a true question. Corporate wealthy types voted for change in 2000 with Bush-Cheney and the coattail electees making their efforts a reality that paid like a busted slot machine. For the rest of us – collectively the overwhelming majority of this country – we haven’t been able to get it together to effect change.

Unless we can download John Edwards’ populism into Barack Obama and pull off a victory for the voiceless, powerless and despondent, it appears change isn’t in the forecast.

And just in time for this economic downturn and recent trend of hiring freezes, I’ll be rejoining the ranks of the unemployed myself. Yes … plenty of dark, gloomy cold to look forward to.

It’s my winter of discontent.

When Fashion Met Technology! Mobile Phone

More and more Fashion brands have moved away from their traditional business, either be cloth, jeans, shoes, perfumes etc, to more IT related product, particularly mobile phone.

First Prada, and follow by Levi's. Dolce & Gabbana has teamed up with Motorola, Julian McDonald with Sony Ericsson, Cath Kidston with Nokia and even rumours that Gucci will be getting into the action shortly.

Levi's, the jeans maker has launched a mobile phone, these stainless steel shell Levi black mobile phones contain the features that can easily mesmerize the people around. The camera is a 2-mega-pixel that can easily take the qualitative photographs along with the best video recordings. These features help you store the precious and valuable moments of your life and you will be just one click away to live with those moments again in future.

Levi black mobile phone has 40 MB in built memory with expandable Micro SD slot too. So, you do not need to disappoint, you can store as much data. Far from your heavy music player equipment handset will not let you bore. It might be your good friend in your loneliness. This set includes multimedia player, MP3 player and Bluetooth stereo in which you can listen and view your favorite songs and videos.

Besides these entertainers, it has one more feature that completes the set in itself and that is in-built radio, which does not only acquaintance you with the old or latest music but also the news updates around the whole world.

Prada, the fashion label is making a mobile phone? Surely not. Well it seems that perfumes are old hat when it comes to extending the brand beyond clothes.

So it's not as illogical as it may sound for Prada to be releasing a mobile phone and before you have to rush off to another catwalk show lets get it out of the way now. This phone is lovely.

Small and compact - it's about the size of the Chocolate phone from LG, the phone is simplistic in its design thanks to the lack of keypad. No slider, clam or candybar design needed here, just one piece of technology with a couple of shortcut buttons.

The front displays the touchscreen, which not only dominates the design of the phone, but also like the Chocolate models from LG disappears when not in use, the only other buttons on the front are a small pick-up, hang-up and menu.

The sides offer equally small buttons for the camera shutter, MP3 player, lock and volume. If you need glasses to see small details, then this isn't for you. The buttons are poorly labelled, but then what do you expect - this isn't the Vodafone Simply phone designed for the over 70s.

Man Fashion: Men's Guide to Fashion Lingerie Part II

So guys, if you are still have doubts about lingerie and need to know more before you walk into any lingerie shop! That's right, here come the in depth men guide on women's fashion lingerie.

Generally, there are 6 different categories of lingerie in the market: Sporty, Natural, Elegant, Designer, Sexy and special occasion, or Bridal Lingerie. Of course, these categories can overlap, Bridal or sexy lingerie can be made by a designer. Sport lingerie can also be natural. Natural can be sexy. But understanding these six categories will help one to determine which lingerie to select.

Fashion Natural Lingerie
Natural Lingerie, in general tends to be functional and less obvious. Simplicity, quality and comfort tend to be the major criteria for use. Darjeeling lingerie brand is for women who prefer the natural look.

Sporty Lingerie
The purpose of sporty lingerie is that the lingerie should support but not hinder the lifestyle of the woman. They should not be obvious under tight clothing and yet not give up anything in the way of functionality. Prada is well known for their sport lingerie. Sloggi developed a strong image in this area as well.

Elegant Lingerie
Elegant lingerie is designed to give the woman a look of subtle sensuality without being too obviously erotic. Many types and styles of elegant lingerie cross over with designers. Chantelle’s Riviera lingerie is one example of elegant lingerie.

Designer Lingerie
Designer lingerie gives a woman the feeling of being special. As few people will ever know she is wearing lingerie made by a designer, the woman who spends the money on designer lingerie is spending it mostly for herself. The focus is on style over comfort or quality. Dolce and Gabana, Versace and recently popular Agent Provocateur are a few important designers of lingerie.

Sexy Lingerie
Sexy lingerie combines a wide range of styles and look. Many different types of lingerie can be included here, such as thongs or G-strings, teddy, corsets, garters, body stockings, sheer lingerie etc. To be sure, any of these can be included in other categories. For example a thong can be sporty or elegant. A corset can be sexy, provocative or elegant. Any of them can be made by a designer. But the overall look of these types of lingerie gives the woman a sexy feel. Victoria’s Secret has a focus on sexy lingerie. Fredericks is their fading competitor. Lola Luna specializes
in G-Strings or thongs. Lady Marlene focuses on Bustiers. Lise Charmel of France combines seduction with fashion.

Bridal Lingerie
Bridal Lingerie is made especially for that one day for which a woman waits all of
her life, her wedding night. Usually it combines a white, creamy color with elegant
and sexy style. Comfort or durability is hardly an issue here, but sensuality and
style are essential. It seems that every lingerie designer markets a line of bridal lingerie.

So do you have any brands in mind? No clue? No worry, depends on where you live, most lingerie are either be national or regional. Here are some of the famous brands you can find either near you or in the net.
  • Chantelle Lingerie is one of the top brands of French lingerie, exporting to more than 50 countries. Passioneta and Darjeeling are Chantelle brands. However, Chantelle sales are still quite small in the USA.
  • La Perla began as a small Italian manufacturer of corsets and is now becoming well known internationally as a manufacturer of lingerie
  • Fantasie is a UK lingerie designer that focuses on lingerie in larger cup sizes. The UK represents, by far, the major sales for Fantasie.
  • Triumph is a German lingerie manufacturer that like La Perla had its beginnings as a small local manufacturer of corsets and has grown to an international corporation. Sloggi is a brand which is owned by Triumph. Triumph is barely existent in North America.
  • Victoria’s Secret was started in the 1977 by Roy Raymond who wanted a European style shop that was accessible to males as well as females. Raymond sold his company in 1982 to The Limited Inc and it has grown up to be the top US manufacturer of lingerie. However, Victoria’s Secret is almost unknown in Europe.
Remember all these, so next time when you walk into any lingerie shop, yous should at least know how to ask a few simple questions.

One final question for today, what is your favorite lingerie and brands? Do share your opinions here.

Man Fashion: A Men's Guide to Lingerie

Just came across this interesting article in the net and thought of share with you guys here. Some years back, Normal Heights resident Mike Pazder walked into a Victoria's Secret by himself -- without any previous lingerie knowledge -- in search of something, anything."I didn't know how this whole operation worked," the now 29-year-old lawyer said. "I didn't know if I was supposed to touch anything or just keep my hands to myself."A saleswoman sensed his uneasiness around all the lacy, silky fabrics with strappy things, hooks and lace, and helped him out."It wasn't exactly the most comfortable conversation when we were trying to figure out what size to get and I had to compare my girlfriend's body to hers," Pazder said. "But aside from that, there is no question that the best advice is to immediately go up to a saleswoman when you go in the store and ask for help rather than wandering around aimlessly looking and feeling like a big perv."Point noted and taken: MEN, ASK FOR HELP.
Nobody expects men like you and me to be an expert in lingerie. Turn to those who have the knowledge before buying her unmentionables this holiday season. Laurie Thomas, owner of San Diego lingerie shop The Enchantress, shares a few tips that might make your life a lot easier.

So if you are going into lingerie shop next time, remember this advice.

Man Fashion: Do You Have a Perfect Fashion Dress Suit?

Every fashion designer and fashion expert will give any men this advice when it comes to what they should have in their closet. They will say that every man needs to own at least one nice fashion dress suit no matter what they do or a living. You never know when you find it necessary to wear your men suit such as a wedding, funeral or a job or job interview that requires business attire. You are always taken a little more seriously if you are wearing a nice men suit.

If you have no idea how to choose men's fashion dress suit. Here are a few general guidelines you can always follow when considering buying a new men fashion dress suit.

  • Choose a fabric – You absolutely, positively cannot go wrong with purchasing a worsted wools men fashion dress suit. I’m also talking about gabardines and mid-weight corded wools as well. As you are shopping around the different stores looking for men fashion dress suits, you’re going to come across ones that are labeled “Super 100”. This only means the yarn was twisted more often than the usual 60-80 twist wools but it is considered to be a mid-weight. Look for fabric that springs back after it's squeezed without wrinkling.
  • How the pants fit - The waistline of men trousers need to be comfortable. The test to see how well men trousers fit is to stick two fingers into the waist while you're wearing them. If you are able to do this, then they fit properly. As far as pleated pants are concerned, it depends on your body type. If you are a little chubby in the stomach area, then you can get away with wearing pleats since it will help cover it up. If you are thinner, then stay away from them. Pleats will only make you appear skinnier.
  • Sleeve length - The sleeve length needs to be exact and the correct length. You’ll end up looking like a bum or someone who borrowed your little brother’s dress suit at the last moment. Neither of those options are a good look. You’ll know the sleeve is too long if it covers your shirt cuff. You want the sleeve to just reach the base of your thumb, revealing a half inch to an inch of your shirt cuff.
  • Your pants hem – If you’re looking to make a horrible impression in your men fashion dress suit, then just pay no attention the length of your pants and make sure they aren’t hemmed. Now seriously, they should reach your shoes with a slight break. You can either go with pants that are cuffed or un-cuffed, but cuff-less give the impression you are taller. Pants with cuffs give off the appearance of more maturity.
  • Jacket waist - The men fashion dress suit’s jacket needs to fit easily across your stomach in order to appear professional. A traditional American cut fashion dress suit known for its signature two buttons and a mainstay for many years is now being replaced by fitted suit jackets with three and four buttons. Shop around for fitted waistlines that enhance the shape of your body if even you prefer either style, classic or modern.
  • Fit of the suit – A good fitting business attire suit should allow you to stretch and bend without any problems and have a free range of movement for your arms. To be sure you have this, bring your arms out straight in front of you. The most important thing to remember is you should always be comfortable no matter what.

Man Fashion: Gold Chain Fashion is Back?

Do you think gold chain is back again this year? Well, it all depend on individual, and depend on which part of the world you are living. Gold chain used to has a lot to say, when it comes to men's fashion in those years. Way back then in the middle Ages, gold chains were rewarded as gifts in a traditional way to royal courts for loyal service.

A chain has many different styles and each one has its own distinct message. They can stand alone as a strong fashion statement. Some styles may give a man an impression of boldness, mystery and power.

The most popular styles are Snake, Rope, Figaro, Wheat design, Venetian Link, Cuban link, Mariner, Curb and Box Chain. Nevertheless, there will always be new styles and designs which will be continuously created by artisans.

With the abundance in styles it's a little bit hard to make a decision. If chosen correctly, a chain will make an impression and show your personality. Figaro, mariner or curb chains are classic pieces with the repeat pattern. Figaro with a long link that connects to three short links; this particular design whispers romance and subtle class. This one, whether it's yellow or white gold, will make you exude power and an impression of luxury. Rope chain is just the height of sophistication. It's a perfect choice if you want the look of intelligence and mystery. These are classic designs originated in Italy and mostly manufactured in Italy.

Not all that glitters is gold. Spend some time doing research before you decide to purchase a chain for yourself. Lots of them on the market are gold plated or gold layered. They look shiny at first but later wear down and the metal (usually, copper, nickel or zinc) underneath shows up. Remember, all men's jewelry should be of excellent quality.

Man Fashion: How to Choose Your Sport Shoes

So far we have touched on fashion dress shoes, and today we will be focus on sport shoes, or athletic shoes. Sport shoes are a special part of men's clothing. As a active man, you need shoes that are durable, lightweight, probably well made and of course with styles. Basketball shoes are typically the first thing that comes to mind when one thinks on men's athletic shoes. There are many other types of shoes besides basketball. All sport shoes for men are made basically the same with a few differences such as cleats and height. There are also a few categories of shoes that make a difference in wear and comfort. From the cheapest shoes to the most expensive men's athletic shoes vary. It is important that you find the right shoe to fit you individual needs for training, durability and comfort.

Motion Control Shoes
The first category is Motion Control Shoes. These shoes are the most rigid, control orientated and durable. The normal motion of the foot is important to keep in mind when purchasing these types of shoes. The motion control shoes help limit the motion of the foot so they are not excessively moving around making injury a greater risk.

Stability Shoes
Another type of shoe category is Stability Shoes. Stability means that there is good support, cushioning, and durability. Men who are of average weight and do not have a need for motion controlled shoes will find these provide the right support.

Cushion Shoes
Cushioned Shoes are ideal for those who do not have a lot of excess motion in their foot and are not in need of additional support. A man of average weight and size may find these to be appropriate for him.

Lightweight Training Shoes
Another type of shoe would be the Lightweight Training Shoes. These are very light and are intended for racing and fast paced training. Efficient runners with no motion control problems will find these are perfect for them.

Trial Shoes
Finally Trail Shoes are good for off road or inclement weather. They have extra stability for added traction. They are very durable. It is imperative to plan ahead when exercising and playing sports. Alternating your shoes is a way to give your feet a brief workout. They will rest the muscles used in the other shoes while working ones to adjust to the ones you changed into. Also your work out or sport shoes will last longer if you wear them only when needed as opposed to all the time.

Some Other Tips

  • Buying men's sport shoes are to always shop late in the day since feet tend to swell a bit as the day progresses.
  • It is important to always measure your feet while standing; the change in size is enough to make your new shoes uncomfortable if you don't.
  • Make sure you try on both shoes with socks on. Some people's feet are slightly different sizes.
  • When you choose a pair always buy the size of your larger foot.
  • If the shoes hurt the first time you try them on then don't buy them. They will not get more comfortable later on.
  • Before training in your new shoes break them in by wearing them around the house.
  • Make sure you don't wear outdoor if you think you might want to return to the store.

Activism Leaders Leading Towards the Door

“We're setting sail to the place on the map
from which no one has ever returned ….” — Ship of Fools, World Party

It was just Tuesday that I read in the press that Gay/Lesbian/Straight Educators Network (GLSEN) founding executive director Kevin Jennings was stepping down. He announced he will be back from his current sabbatical as planned on Feb. 1, but will step down on August 1, 2008 after thirteen years. According to another organization source, he isn’t taking a different job or even discussing future directions – it’s merely an open-ended departure.

Now on Wednesday, 24 hours later, I read about another leader stepping down. The National Gay & Lesbian Task Force executive director Matt Foreman announced he will be stepping down in April, the month of his fifth anniversary with NGLTF. He will be moving from a very highly visible NGLTF position to chair the gay and lesbian program at the Evelyn & Walter Haas Fund. It’s almost like moving from Manhattan, New York City to Manhattan, Kansas.

To lay population there’s no connection in these announcements at all. Coincidental, to be sure – even though it comes on the threshold of what could be the biggest sea change politically that’s been seen for nearly 15 years. We’re literally on the threshold of going from the gloom of conservative guilt-mongering and repression to the brightness of progressive and more socially conscious times. There’s a perfect storm brewing in favor of humans of all walks, and especially favorable to the gay and lesbian, perhaps even the transgender community.

So with that stated, why would leaders of two very prominent, egalitarian-minded GLBT organizations decide to leave before the game is won?

Burn out is a possibility, but not likely – especially in Matt Foreman’s case. The position Foreman carved in media gave him plenty of soundbite prominence, to which both the camera seemed to like and he appeared to mutually enjoy. It’s odd that he would leave that at such a key point in the coming bell curve of visibility.

There are no apparent health or aging issues that would predicate the departure. And unlike post 9/11 when there was a watershed of leadership changes due to a general demoralizing pall and sense of hopelessness in the country, we’re seeing an opposite sociopolitical climate now.

To the lay population there’s no connection, and it’s mere coincidence. To those involved heavily in GLBT sociopolitics, especially in the transgender-specific portion, there’s much more to read into these changes. The going theory is that the United ENDA coalition will break up when it becomes evident that the non-inclusive ENDA passage becomes imminent.

When the truth about Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Rep. Barney Frank finally became unavoidably evident beginning in late September of last year, an ad-hoc coalition of more than 300 national, state and local organizations sprung up to combat the abandonment of the original transgender-inclusive Employment Non Discrimination Act (ENDA). This coalition – United ENDA coalition – was spearheaded by NGLTF under Foreman’s leadership and contained virtually every major gay and lesbian led organization in the country (including GLSEN) outside of HRC.

It was a lightning swift, awesome show of force in unity – with much of the credit for that organizational coalition effort going to transman legal wunderkind, Shannon Minter with National Center for Lesbian Rights for the footwork, and Mara Keisling at NCTE for being the trans face and ad-hoc representative spokesperson within the coalition itself.

The outsiders had finally taken a stand of their own and drew in all in their vicinity to support this new effort, and it brought a lot of attention in the media. However, it also drew HRC and Barney Frank’s attention as well. Almost as quickly as Keisling’s 180-degree turn from collaborator to blatant critic of HRC, if not necessarily Frank, she then turned back again in self-restraint on public comments.

It turned out HRC was actively seeking replacement for the “insider” trans person / organization that Mara had just left void. Rep. Barney Frank was rather openly (as an ad-hoc organizer) trying to find another replacement to speak to the transgender community about the benefits of an employment bill that leaves trans out. Moreover, Barney – the bellwether of where politics sides in much of Gay/Lesbian America – levied some blistering criticism at Mara Keisling herself, calling her a “stupid ass” for coordinating this effort, and affixing the same name to all the new ad-hoc coalition of outsiders who followed her.

It was pretty serious name-calling, and all parties on the receiving end of the epithet remained strangely silent. Obviously the barbs had found their target and the stings were felt.

In the past month, the board of NCTE has been very pointed about their sentiments towards HRC, if not necessarily Barney Frank. However Mara Keisling has been notably tempered in any speech for the record – much more so than her board. Rumor, though unsubstantiated, has it that she’s especially over concerned about being supplanted by another go-to transgender selection from Frank and HRC and hopes to find a way to put her group back to the collaborative, “go-to” status with HRC. Even her own words noted in Becky Juro’s radio show stated they will “have to work in the same space” in Washington.

Some of the parties contacted by both Frank and HRC about a new entity are helping NCTE by not taking the bait. But a few obstacles stand in Keisling’s way. Now that the trans community has come around to a united front in opposition to HRC and Frank – flames that she’s been actively involved in fanning – she will find it at the very least nearly impossible to go back to HRC without divorcing herself from the community she represents. Also, history has shown HRC to be a hypersensitive suitor, and any show of disloyalty from their favor is repaid by distinct reduction in trust that is never forgotten (to wit: GenderPAC). They’re unforgiving.

Lastly, any move back into collaboration with HRC while the United ENDA Coalition holding the bag, especially by someone viewed as the linchpin to the very effort, would be viewed very dimly.

And on the United ENDA coalition, it’s been openly wondered in the trans community what would occur if a non-inclusive ENDA is imminent to pass. Would all the GLBT orgs stand in opposition even up to and after the new president’s signing the bill into law? If so, how would these gay and lesbian created, led, fed and staffed organizations appear to the gay and lesbian community when they stood on record opposing legislation that helps their own? It’s not simply a casual dilemma.

“Friends run like rats from a sinking ship
Leaving you naked to the night.
Now you're known as the last resort.” — Ugly Head, Marc Almond

Speculation among trans community “non-insider” leaders is that this coalition will last for the time, at least until a new president (a hoped-for Democratic president) is in office. Once that occurs, especially if it’s Hillary Clinton, conventional wisdom has it that the 2009 ENDA will fly through both houses of Congress and the president will gladly sign it into law. The United ENDA Coalition members, those especially in the large gay / lesbian led groups, will start seriously considering if they really want to be left off of that bandwagon and victory parade.

The prediction is that the United ENDA coalition will collapse at the beginning of, or even before the 2009 legislative session. Particularly, if these groups have any sense that Mara Keisling herself wanted back on the inside with HRC or Barney, you can bet this whole coalition will collapse and disappear quicker than a house of cards. After all their efforts, they want to be heroes in gay and lesbian history. If HRC of all groups is up there, why wouldn’t they want to have their day in that spotlight too?

One thing to keep in mind, how do we think their respective large donors and boards of directors – prominently and overwhelmingly gay and lesbian – are going to view these organizations after such an abandonment of what could be the largest gay and lesbian victory in the nation’s history? Principled stands are heroic, but faced with absolute intransigence by Rep. Barney Frank, and most importantly Sen. Ted Kennedy (whose seat Barney longs to inherit someday soon), heroism can get them killed.

So what we may be seeing here are organizational leaders who are looking into their crystal ball and seeing their future. For prominent organizations, especially someone like Matt Foreman with the coalition leader NGLTF, would they even want any remote involvement in what would well be a breakneck 180 by a United ENDA leader? Would they be able to face what will predictably be a transgender hue and cry that will blister the paint off of walls in China over such a stunning act? Clearly no.

They’re rather smartly stepping out of the way of what will likely be a very bipolar period of euphoria and tumult. Being a coastal resident next to the Gulf, and especially considering what hard choices are coming down the chute at them, I can’t blame them for leaving well in advance of the storm. It could be a monster.

“Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.” — President Abraham Lincoln

For those of us involved in activism over the years, these aren’t surprises. They’re pieces of the puzzle fitting snugly into place.

True, these are outside speculations, some of these issues are unsubstantiated at this time and there’s no way for anyone to have the complete picture except for the primary parties themselves from their specific perspectives – and they certainly will not allow that information to be public. Those of us truly on the outside must take the few clues that are given and determine the pattern. After a decade or more of this, we’ve become adept at discerning patterns – thus, our lack of surprise.

Hopefully some of this will change the original direction of these things in order to avoid self-fulfilling the prophecy. Meanwhile, feel free to consider this nothing more than conspiracy theory – that’s understandable. Just keep in mind the some “theories” are only that until the truths that are currently unknown become truths that are known. Come back in 2009 and we’ll compare notes then about this wild conspiracy theory. I hope that it turns out to be dead wrong, but I fear that it won’t.
